handling:
Shake well and stir – if necessary – before use.
Oil primer / underpainting white is the ideal white for lower layers in oil paintings. It minimizes
cracking of coloured shades in upper layers.
In contrast to other Schmincke white oil colours the product is produced with linseed oil and shows
the tendency to yellow. Therefore it is not suitable for pure use or as mixing white.
Please use only on grounds which are proper prepared for oil painting, for example with Schmincke
primer 1, strongly absorbent 50512 or Schmincke primer 2, slightly absorbent 50514.
Oil primer / underpainting white is ready to use and should be applied in thin layers.
Like other oil colours, this product dries in a complex physical-chemical process with oxygen and
gets non-soluble in turpentine or turpentine substitute.
The product is dilutable with oil of turpentine 50024 / 50102, turpentine substitute 50019, diluent N
50026, terpin 50023 and citrus terpin 50013.
Please clean tools like brushes or palettes as soon as possible with e.g. oil of turpentine 50024 /
50102, turpentine substitute 50019 or brush cleaner 50051 / 50052.
Oil primer / underpainting white can also be tinted with other oil colours.
Please also remember the rule „fat over lean“ which is very import if painting in oil.
If working with other Schmincke mediums for oil painting please follow the individual dosage for
those products!
